Montreal, November 1, 2012 – The Association pour une Solidarité syndicale et étudiante (ASSÉ) condemns the decision of the Superior Court finding the Association’s former spokesperson guilty of contempt of court.

“Our support for Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois is unbreakable,” said ASSÉ spokesperson Jérémie Bédard-Wien. “This decision is an example of the unacceptable use of the judicial process during of a political conflict. In this sense, we express our solidarity and will continue to defend him.” It is important to note that Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, as spokesperson of CLASSE, was merely expressing mandates confided to him by the organization. “The words that have brought this judgment to Mr. Nadeau-Dubois are beholden of the entire student movement. History will vindicate him,” concluded Jérémie Bédard-Wien.

In the next few days, ASSÉ, in collaboration with Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, will look at possible recourse including appealing the decision. The Association will continue to defend approximately 3,000 people who were arrested during the strike.
