“Since his death the revolutionary’s songs have been etched into Venezuela’s cultural history. His words gained renewed meaning in 1989, when tens of thousands of Venezuelans protested against a government increasingly embracing neoliberalism. … In 2004, the government of Hugo Chavez founded a museum commemorating Primera’s life at his family home in Falcon state.
