Textbook Costs and Post-Secondary Education: journalists ask the wrong questions | The Citizens' Press

by Graham H. Cox — last modified Aug 20, 2015 09:50 AM
The school year has begun for most of those going (back) to post-secondary programs and with it comes the barrage of "news" reports on the cost of school supplies. What is really frustrating about these stories is the analysis seems to be that the cost of school supplies and living expenses is too high, but the same journalists writing these stories do not touch on the costs for education as a public service.

Tory Agenda to Destroy the Canadian Union Movement Becoming Clear | Citizens' Press

by Graham H. Cox — last modified Sep 06, 2012 10:55 AM
Working people are under a sustained attack from the government through changes in the law that undermine progressive political mobilization. Through the proposed laws, the Conservative Party is undermining the very foundation of what keeps Canada a different and unique place to the US: the ability of people to contribute to democratic mass organizations for political work. by Graham H. Cox — last modified Nov 08, 2012 03:40 PM

Hudak Lashes-Out at Working People as Only A Tory Would

by Graham H. Cox — last modified Jul 04, 2012 11:04 AM
Hot on the heals of losing the court challenge to the Working Families Coalition (a rather centrist collection of labour unions that dislike Tory policy), Hudak lashes out at working people in the province. This new attack on basic rights is a public relations exercise wrapped in what they call a policy "whitepaper".

The Ignorance Enabling Industry Comes To Canada

by Graham Cox — last modified Jan 17, 2012 08:47 AM
The Ignorance Peddlers have come to Canadian air-waves. They are turning off thoughtful people and undermining informed debate and comment. They are using Internet chatroom and comment thread antics, but it is organized and corporate-funded and has one goal: distort the message. Thinking people need to respond.

Open Access Publishing

by Graham Cox — last modified Jan 17, 2012 08:57 AM
The move to an Open Access publishing model is the only model of publishing that embodies all of the values of the academy. The campaigns to implement funds to support open access should be established as a priority for all universities and governments that fund them.
